Bower Hill Road has been an ongoing headache for the borough of Bridgeville in recent years. Several times, the borough has paid to have a section of the road repaved, yet the pavement keeps crumbling.
Council voted 7-0 last month to approve a $14,000 geotechnical investigation that should provide information that leads to a more permanent fix.
“There’s a belief that there may be some water infiltration that has caused the pavement to fail on that segment of Bower Hill Road,” engineer Joe Sites told council prior to the vote.
If water is indeed the culprit, this procedure should reveal how deep the infiltration lies and what the borough must do to prevent Bower Hill Road from being an annual repaving job.
