Recognitions
Dr. Vanatta recognized sophomore Geoffrey Madge to the board for earning first chair oboe at the PMEA State Conference in Lancaster, April 18-21. Geoffrey secured the first chair through auditions amongst the 13 All-State oboists at Lancaster.
Geoffrey earned his spot at the state concert through auditions at PMEA Western Region Orchestra in Sharon, PA, on March 22-24, 2018. In addition to playing oboe in the CVHS Concert Band and the Pittsburgh Symphony Youth Orchestra, Geoffrey is a violinist with the CVHS Orchestra.
Geoffrey is now eligible to participate in the National Association for Music Education Eastern Division Orchestra Festival in April 2019, in Pittsburgh. This will feature the top musicians from thirteen Eastern States. Geoffrey is just the third Chartiers Valley musician to advance to this level in the past fifteen years.
Informational Agenda
Mr. Choura in announced that CVHS Veterinary Technology student Samantha Wright received Parkway West CTC Student of the Month recognition.
Consent Agenda
Approved the purchase of three 24-passenger vans to Myers Equipment at a unit price not to exceed $59,700 and seven 72-passenger school buses to Myers Equipment at a unit price not to exceed $98,400.
Approved revised 2017-2018 school calendar to included a teacher professional development day on May 18 and an additional two professional development days added to the end of the year.
Nutrition Group was awarded the Food Service Management Contract to Nutrition Group for a one-year term, renewable annually up to four additional one-year periods, contingent upon final PDE approval.
Acting Finance Director Frosina Cordisco presented a financial summary report that included a preliminary budget proposal detailing revenues and expenditures as well as projections for the immediate future. A final budget proposal will be presented to the board on May 22. The final budget adoption is scheduled for June 26. View Preliminary Budge Presentation pdf >>
